I want to apologize for not having any posts for the last few weeks. I’ve been a little busy lately (see below). Now that life is more or less back to normal, I hope to get back on track. First up is a recap of some important lax events in the Des Moines metro area.
Congratulations to the 2011 Central Iowa Lacrosse Association Summer Lacrosse League champions, the Gargoyles. After defeating the Aces 10-4 in the final last Wednesday (8/10), Shelton’s team secured their second consecutive league title.
Unfortunately I missed last week’s game (and the August 3 playoff game), which caused the delay in reporting. On the positive side, I missed the games because of the birth of my daughter! (Our first)
The conclusion of the second annual Summer Lacrosse League leads me into making preparations for the third annual Central Iowa Lacrosse Association Box Lacrosse League. With changes at both Drake and Iowa State, it will be an interesting season to be sure. Information regarding the box league will come around in a month or so.
Our first ever boys program also wrapped up on the 10th. I was not directly involved in its operation due to my job, but I will try to get a recap from the coaches, players, and volunteers that were. We did things a little differently than many established areas, and I will go into that as well. All of this will be posted at a later date.
The Valley Tigers will begin their fall ball season soon. Practices are expected to start next month. With a strong contingent of returning players – especially at attack and midfield, we are confident that the team will continue to build upon its early success. A few question marks remain, but that’s what fall ball is for, right?
I’ve still got a couple of special items in the pipeline, but I’m not sure when I will post them. For now, thanks for your patience and thanks for reading! Keep laxing!
