Adult Lacrosse Still Alive in Des Moines

Though the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association was unable to field the adult Summer Lacrosse League this summer, adult lacrosse is still alive in Des Moines.  Once it was decided that our resources were too limited to run both an expanded youth program and a full blown adult league, we proposed a weekly pick up game.  This was met unfavorably by several members of our local lacrosse community but was truly the only option available.  A schedule announcement was planned to come after the youth league got underway.

Before that happened, members and alumni of the Iowa State lacrosse team contacted me about giving adult lacrosse a go.  Their plan was to create a new adult league in Central Iowa.  I offered my blessing and whatever logistical support I could manage, plus my entire contact list.  Eventually they decided to start with a few pick up games to determine interest and turnout before trying to launch a full blown league.

The group has maintained the weekly pickup game format with some success.  Games are held on Wednesday nights starting at 6:30 pm on the upper field at Valley Southwoods in West Des Moines.  If you are in the area and have your own equipment, please fee free to stop by.  All skill levels are welcome and there is no charge to participate.
