Founded in 2008, the Valley Tigers Lacrosse Club are members of the Nebraska High School Lacrosse League based roughly two hours from Central Iowa in Omaha, NE. The Tigers joined the league as a JV team in the 2009 season. They moved to the varsity level in 2010 where they have finished in the top […]
Some of this text will be kind of personal in nature, but I hope it sheds light on the realities of running a lacrosse organization while juggling a personal life.
This is turning into a season of changes for the Valley Tigers. We have already announced the unfortunate departure of head coach Zach Zielonko, as well as assistants Tyler Nielsen and Austin Ladd. While I have assumed head coaching duties, we are currently speaking with candidates to volunteer as assistants. The sideline will look much […]
The Brine King Superlights were the glove of choice this year in Iowa, so Adam Edg bought himself a pair and decided to do a full review on the product!
With Valley’s 2012 season in the rear view mirror, we are now focused on the future of lacrosse in Central Iowa. After a successful pilot program last summer, the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association significantly expanded our youth lacrosse program this summer. A generous gift from West Genesse allowed us to equip a greater number of […]
With Valley’s 2012 season in the rear view mirror, we are now focused on the future of lacrosse in Central Iowa: the youth.
The Central Iowa Lacrosse Association has renewed its focus on growing the game. A major component of this focus is an emphasis on youth lacrosse. After a small pilot program last summer, the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association is partnering with the Walnut Creek YMCA in Windsor Heights, IA to expand the youth program. The generous […]
With West Genesee’s mind-blowing equipment drive now two days behind us, news keeps rolling in. Your News Now in Syracuse covered the lacrosse gear drive; check out the video here. Along with interviews with Adam Higginbotham and Coach Messere, there are some nice shots of the donated equipment. The Central Iowa Lacrosse Association logo (on […]
I know regular readers are eager to see the weekly recap of Valley’s games, but unfortunately that post will be delayed this week. Dues to some issues beyond my control, I had to miss yesterday’s varsity game; the JV game was canceled by the opposing team. The team’s score book is currently in somebody else’s […]
Members of the West Genesee lacrosse team decided to take an active role in spreading the game of lacrosse. They scoured the internet for programs in new and developing areas and reached out to us… in Iowa! Growing The Game thanks to the best High School program in the country!
Valley’s 2012 apparel arrived yesterday courtesy of Ron Garcia at Dasher Sports, who also supply our uniforms and shooter shirts. Like our helmets and gloves, all of the apparel is optional but our players are required to dress in black on game days nonetheless.
At long last Valley’s 2012 team gloves have arrived! Harrow supplied out optional team gloves for the last two years, but we decided to mix things up this season. We originally wanted to go with the Warrior Riot lacrosse gloves, but the added cost for rushed production made them unfeasible. After perusing the various new […]
The still-in-the-box first look at the 2012 Valley Tigers‘ shooter shirts: Please share your thoughts below. A big thanks to Ron Garcia at Dasher Sports for the quick turn around and assisting us with the design!
Does anyone else love to get home from a long day at work and an intense practice to find stuff like the above waiting for them? Sure I knew this year’s Valley Lacrosse helmets were are on their way, but there is nothing I love more than coming home to find boxes of lacrosse equipment […]
Adam Edgington reviews his brand new pair of Burn 5.0 Mid Cleats by Warrior Lacrosse.
When it comes to famous lacrosse families, only the Powells seem to rival the notoriety of the Gaits. Just as Mikey is more widely recognized than brothers Casey and Ryan, Gary the more famous of the Gaits. Despite being perpetually in his twin brother’s shadow, Paul had a strong and respected lacrosse career. After three […]
After handing out new sticks and kicks, the jolly old man known as Laxy Claus still had one more package for me. I was definitely not expecting a brand new Cascade CPX-R under (ok, technically beside) the Christmas tree, even though I was in the market for a new lid. Originally, I planned to buy […]
Ho ho ho! Laxy Claus visited my house over Christmas, bringing a couple of pieces of gear for my enjoyment. Last week I shared pics of my new cleats, but what would a visit from Laxy Claus be without a stick or two? While not the latest gear on the market, Laxy Claus managed to […]
As I predicted last week, Laxy Claus visited my house over the weekend. Although this year’s pickings were few in number, they were great in quality. Up first are my new cleats: Before the Christmas shopping season, I knew that I wanted the Warrior Burn 5.0. Not only have Warrior’s cleats improved by leaps and […]
On November 7 I published “Does US Lacrosse Really Care About Growth?” which questioned the distribution of equipment grants by the national organization. This piece called into question the distribution of equipment to programs to various boroughs in New York, as well as Philadelphia, Albany, and Connecticut (I originally included Chicago but I nixed that after […]
